Narcolitis

Narcolitis
Narcolitis (NI) is a neurological condition most characterized by Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) brought on by mid day consumption of nourishment that is high in carbohydrates and calories. A narcolitic will become extremely lethargic and is most likely to experience disturbed diurnal awareness, salivatory spillage, accelerated REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, and vocalizations of the soft palate (snoring).
It is often associated with “The Itis” but differs slighty. When a subject suffers from standard Itis, they can voluntarily allow the onset of sleep. A subject that suffers from Narcolitis does not have the aforementioned choice. NI will simply initiate a state of unconsciousness, leaving the subject unaware of their state until they have once again regained consciousness. This state of consciousness may be temporary and could result in further stints of unconsciousness. A typical bout with NI can last anywhere from 37 to 63 minutes.
